Attorney William S. Ramsey was trained as a scientist and received a Ph. D. in microbiology from the University of Minnesota.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict and is active in the American Legion, where he served for several years as a post Judge Advocate.
He worked in research and new product development at Corning Glass Works for 12 years. During that time he received a M.B.A. degree from Syracuse University. He worked at W.R. Grace, a chemical company, in research management for four years.
He became a Registered Patent Agent in 1987 and began a career in obtaining U.S. and foreign patents for inventors. He attended night law school at the University of Baltimore, graduating in1995, thereby becoming a lawyer licensed in Maryland as well as a Registered Patent Lawyer.
He is licensed to practice in the state and federal courts in Maryland as well as well as the courts of the District of Columbia and before the Patent and Trademark Office.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, Intellectual Property Committee, as well as state and Howard County bar associations in Maryland, the D.C. Bar Society, and the American Society for Microbiology and the American Chemical Society.
His pro bono work includes serving as a Settlement Officer in the Maryland district and circuit courts.
Mr. Ramsey applies his broad experience in research and development and new product commercialization in advising individuals and small businesses in establishing and developing their businesses, especially with respect to intellectual property issues.
Services provided include the preparation and prosecution of patent, trademark registration, and copyright registration applications before the appropriate federal agencies. Clients are also represented in obtaining foreign patent, trademark and copyright registrations.
